Overview
Erio reigns over death, oblivion, decay, and disease. Mortals fear him because every life enters his shadow, but his faith insists that death without guidance is worse than death itself.
Divine Role
Beral created Erio to guide souls through the veil into the realm beyond. In the Realm of Death, he is said to judge the departed and determine whether they find rest, paradise, or oblivion.
His power is terrifying because it is inevitable. Yet within Amra's divine order, Erio is not merely cruelty. He is the keeper of endings, memory, mourning, and the boundary that gives life shape.
Clergy and Rites
Erio's priests are few, solemn, and often socially isolated. They care for the dying, tend cemeteries and catacombs, prepare bodies, conduct funerals, and guide grieving families through ritual acceptance.
Their holiest rite is the Last Word, spoken at a deathbed as the soul loosens from the body. The priest offers comfort, prayer, and farewell so the dead do not cross alone.
Campaign Use
- Use Erio when death must be handled with dignity rather than spectacle.
- Let his clergy know truths that living society avoids.
- Make burial, plague, undeath, or soul judgment a serious religious matter.
