Schools of Magic

Schools of Magic

The ten known disciplines of arcane practice, including secret traditions beyond ordinary player reach.

Overview

The schools of magic are the main intellectual map by which Amran mages classify spells, dangers, and apprenticeships.

The School of Abjuration

Centered on protection and defense, this school's spells safeguard its practitioners and their allies from harmful magical effects and damage.

The School of Divination

Focused on the perception and understanding of both the magical and physical worlds, this school's spells grant insights into the hidden truths of reality and glimpses of the future.

The School of Conjuration

Dedicated to the summoning of magical creatures and items, this school's spells call forth powerful beings and artifacts to aid their practitioners in achieving their aims.

The School of Enchantment

Concentrated on the manipulation of minds and emotions, this school's spells exert influence over the thoughts and actions of others.

The School of Evocation

Emphasizing the creation and control of raw magical energy, this school's spells unleash devastation upon enemies and obliterate obstacles in their path.

The School of Illusion

Committed to the crafting of illusions and the manipulation of perception, this school's spells deceive and bewilder foes.

The School of Necromancy

Devoted to the mastery of life and death, this school's spells summon and control the deceased while also providing healing and restoration.

The School of Transmutation

Focused on the alteration of matter and energy, this school's spells transmute objects and creatures, changing their forms in myriad ways.

The School of Chronomancy

Dedicated to the manipulation of time, this school allows mages to control and alter the flow of time in the past, present, and future. Chronomancy spells are used to foresee the future, alter history, accelerate or decelerate time, and manipulate timelines.

The School of Entropy

Committed to degradation and chaos, this school enables mages to manipulate the entropy of energy in their environment. Entropic Magic spells are used to disintegrate objects, hasten decay and rot, and increase the amount of chaos and disorder in the affected area.

Restricted Traditions

Chronomancy and Entropy are deliberately rare. In Amra lore, elves and ancient magicians kept these schools secret because their powers can distort time, decay, history, and the stability of reality itself.
